Ryan Clark came to Blacksburg from a small town outside Augusta, Ga., and was a popular leader in the Tech marching band and a resident adviser.
Clark was in his fifth year at Virginia Tech, and was the resident adviser on Hilscher’s floor. The job suited him, said friend Sarah Davis, 21, a junior.
"He was such a friendly person," Davis, a trombone player in the Tech marching band, said yesterday. "When I came in as a freshman, I was scared to death. He was always really friendly.
"If he didn't know you, he'd introduce himself," Davis said. "He was like, ‘I want to know everybody.’"
Clark, 22, came from Martinez, Ga., and was working to complete degrees in biology and English. But he was perhaps best known as a leader in the Tech band, The Marching Virginians. He was co-librarian of the band, making sure all of its 330 members had the proper sheet music.
The site said Clark, known as "Stack," wanted to get a doctorate in psychology, focusing on cognitive neuroscience.
"Stack enjoys making t-shirts with his partner in crime, Kim Daniloski, and haggling with street vendors," the site said.
"He was always willing to give and do for others and the fact that that may be or is speculated to be how he gave his life is 100 percent him," Ryan’s twin brother, Bryan, said.
